Unit 13 Tour Operators
In this assignment I am going to describe the products and services provided by diferent categories of
tour operators for diferent target market.
There are 5 types of tour operators: outbound, inbound, domestc, mass-market and
specialist/independent tour operators.
First of all, the most common type of a tour operator, as the name itself suggests, is the mass-market.
This is a tour operator that sells millions of holidays every year, being famous for the advertsement
budgets. Mass-market tour operators usually sell typical and traditonal package holidays, such as sun
and beach holidays.
One example which I am going to present in detail is Thomas Cook. Their target markets are: families
with children, couples, honeymoons, LGBT, youth/adult groups, adults only. They provide to their
customers a wide-range of products and services, such as Holidays, Destnatons, Deals, Flights Only, City
Breaks, Cruises, Extra services/Ancillary services.
Thomas Cook provides a diverse selecton of destnatons for their customers. They provide package
holidays both short-haul and long-haul.
