What Is It? What Is It?
-Hydrostatic pulmonary edema due to transfusion -Acute respiratory distress
(too much blood and non-sanguineous fluid,
transfused too rapidly):
-High rates of volume infusion
-Underlying cardiac or pulmonary pathology
Risk Factors: Risk Factors:
● Very young/old ● Onset: within 6 hours of a plasma
● Onset: <2 hours of transfusion containing transfusion
