1. What are the main health concerns that affect people at work?
Health is important in the labor market. The main health issues that affect people at work
include mental health challenges, accidents during work, exposure to hazardous chemicals,
outbreaks and spread of diseases, and dietary-related health conditions (Barnay, 2016). The
modern labor market is more aware of the increase in mental health issues and their effects on
the wellbeing of employees, employers, and the organizations at large. The task force today
experiences many downtime hours resulting in less production due to employees suffering
from mild and severe cases of stress highlighting the need to take mental health with the
importance it commands (Barnay, 2016). At workplaces, accidents are a common occurrence
affecting different individuals. Accidents are work-related such as a worker having the hand
cut off by a machine, slips and falls due to slippery flows, falling from a height, and accidents
during the operation of machinery such as vehicles among others (Barnay, 2016). Proper use
of personal protective Equipment (PPEs) has been used to mitigate the accident risk factor.
Exposure to hazardous materials such as chemicals, and fumes among others are
responsible for health concerns in particular firms dealing with chemicals (Barnay, 2016).
These results in various health complications including burns, and the development of
secondary conditions such as various forms of cancers among others. Proper handling and use
of PPEs have reduced exposure to chemicals. The outbreak and spread of diseases such as
COVID-19 affect the health of stakeholders at workplaces (Giorgi, Lecca, Alessio, Finstad,
