Introduction
Kabana Leather is a business located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia that makes designed leather bags.
The company was established in 2017 by its founder Semhal Guesh (Kabana Leather, 2022). It's
a local business that focuses on sustainability by providing work opportunities and promoting
environmental protection. Every bag is handcrafted and made with animal skin. The firm is
growing at a rapid stage and planning to expand into the African Continent and European market
(Kabana Leather, 2022).
Diversity is crucial for today's market where individuals with different backgrounds are coming
to work together (TalentLyft, 2022). This might be a positive idea but it brings with it its own
challenges. Companies that want to go global after operating locally need to have a proper policy
and procedure for implementing and managing diversity.
Purpose of Proposal
The concept of diversity touches on respect, fairness, and inclusivity. Diversity helps to
minimize discrimination and helps firms fully utilize the talent of people who previously were
not given a chance. Kabana Leather has been operating locally for over four years and wants to
expand its business globally hence we are required to prepare a proposal that would outline the
diversity plan in the major HR processes. The proposal will help the firm to incorporate diversity
in recruiting, hiring, appraisal, and other functions and establish a standard that could be used in
the future.
The proposal considers diversity in race, gender, age, ethnicity, physical ability and disabilities,
religion, political beliefs, and socioeconomic backgrounds (TalentLyft, 2022). The proposal aims
to bring the benefits of diversity including increased creativity and problem-solving, increased
profit, increase in employee satisfaction, and overall improved reputation and hiring results.
