– illustrate key operating system aspects by concrete example, and
– prepare you for future courses. . .

– compare and contrast CPU scheduling algorithms
– explain the following: process, address space, file.
– distinguish paged and segmented virtual memory.
– discuss the relative merits of Unix and NT. . .
