Social change is an alteration in social order in a society.
FACTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR SOCIAL CHANGE
1.Technology: is considered as the most powerful tool of social change. Technology has totally
changed the style of living.
2. Religion: The influences of Christianity and Islam on majority of Nigerian families are so
enormous. The two religions have totally dwarfed the organic indigenous religions of Nigerians
and they are being categorized as sources of demons.
3. Physical environment; many geographic changes sometimes produce social changes,
climate, storm, social erosion, earthquakes, flood, droughts etc. definitely affect social life and
induce social change.
4. Culture: Social and cultural aspect are closely interwoven, thus any change in the culture
(ideas, values, beliefs) brings a corresponding change in the whole social order.
Family violence covers a wide range of behavior’s committed by a person against a family
member.
