THESIS V/S DISSERTATION
DIFFERENCES:
• The primary difference between Thesis and Dissertation is the time of their
completion.
• Dissertation is presented for the completion of the master’s degree while
Thesis is submitted for Doctorate degree or PhD.
• Thesis is based on the research of owner and it is lengthier than
dissertation.
• Comparing to Thesis, Dissertation is shorter and it will not focus on the
deeper research.
• Thesis is based on the theory as well as practical, while dissertation focus
only on theory.
• Dissertation contains in approximately 100 pages while, Thesis includes
research proposals, grand proposal, literature review, ideation of research
topic and other details about your research. It should be three times
lengthier than a master’s dissertation.
SIMILARITIES:
• Both are considered as a final project and required to graduate respective
programme.
• Both requires deep and accurate understanding of the research
programme.
• Both forms first address specific research questions.
• Academic writing skills are imperative.

thesis is the final project of a doctoral degree, while in American universities
