Instructions: This examination paper consists of FOUR compulsory questions: QUESTION 1: 15 MARKS QUESTION 2: 35 MARKS QUESTION 3: 20 MARKS QUESTION 4: 30MARKS TOTAL: 100 MARKS • You must answer all the questions. • Answer all questions in English. • Ensure that you number your answers correctly, as indicated in the examination paper. • If you type your answers, type in Arial 12 pt. • If you write your answers, please write neatly and legibly. • Handwritten paper-based answer sheets must be scanned and converted into a single PDFformatted document. Ensure that you scan all the pages in the correct order. • Remember to accept the declaration you must tick as part of the upload process. Additional student instructions 1. Students must upload their answer scripts in a single PDF file (answer scripts must not be password protected or uploaded as “read only” files) 2. Incorrect file format and uncollated answer scripts will not be considered. 3. NO emailed scripts will be accepted. 4. Students are advised to preview submissions (answer scripts) to ensure legibility and that the correct answer script file has been uploaded. 5. Open Rubric [TURN OVER] 3 HLT3701 JAN/FEB 2022 Tim is a Grade 1 learner who lives with his grandmother. He has had little access to books as they stay in a rural area. He has not had an opportunity to engage in discussions with adults as his grandmother is always busy in her garden and doing other household chores. He has a limited frame of reference. Emma reads simple books. She can read in phrases rather than word by word and can read silently to herself rather than out loud. She understands most of what she reads. She can write more quickly and writes words and short sentences. Her spelling may not always be accurate, but she has learnt most of the high-frequency words. QUESTION 1: (15) Read the paragraph below and answer the questions that follow: 1.1 Outline THREE (3) activities that you would do to assist Tim and other learners in the same situation to develop their frame of reference.
