, Voorwoord

Voor u ligt het ‘Strategisch Marketingplan’ onderzoek van Knowledger. Deze scriptie focust zich op
de vraag hoe Knowledger, een nieuw bedrijfsconcept, het beste de markt kan betreden. Het
onderzoek is uitgevoerd in opdracht van iVenture, het overkoepelende moederbedrijf waaronder
Knowledger valt.

Het management van iVenture wil met Knowledger inspelen op de populariteit die is ontstaan rond
het begrip big data. Bedrijven zijn naarstig opzoek naar middelen om aan de slag te gaan met big
data en zich zo voor te bereiden op de toekomst. Hiervoor is talent nodig dat bedrijven voorziet van
de kennis en kunde die hierbij komt kijken. Knowledger moet deze kennis en kunde gaan leveren aan
het bedrijfsleven. Dit gaat Knowledger doen door talenten te detacheren die gespecialiseerd zijn in
big data en daarom ook wel ‘Data Guru’s’ worden genoemd.

Deze scriptie is geschreven door Jeroen de Bie, 21 jaar oud en studerend aan Avans Hogeschool te ’s-
Hertogenbosch.

Ik heb dit niet alleen gedaan. Ik wil graag mijn dank betuigen aan het management van iVenture,
Patrick Wilson en Tsak-kin Man. Zij hebben mij enorm geholpen in het onderzoeksproces dat ik heb
doorlopen voor deze scriptie. Zij hebben mij vooral op technisch gebied veel bijgebracht over de
omgeving waarin Knowledger gaat opereren. Vanwege het feit dat ik geen IT- gerelateerde
achtergrond heb en met beperkte kennis van zake begon aan dit traject, wil ik hen bedanken voor de
tijd en moeite die zij hebben geïnvesteerd om mij kennis te laten maken met alle ins en outs van de
markt.

Daarnaast wil ik wil ik mijn mede studenten, Rogier Klutz en Sanne Franssen, bedanken voor de
geboden hulp. Vele malen hebben zij een helpende hand geboden of een verlichte kijk op het
onderzoek gegeven, die mij tot nieuwe inzichten heeft gebracht. Ditzelfde geld voor Edward
Nieuwland, mijn stagebegeleider. Die mij door middel van kritische feedback heeft aangezet tot
nieuwe inzichten.

Met dit gezegd te hebben, wil ik u veel plezier wensen met het lezen van deze scriptie.

Research
Knowledger is going to be a new company concept that wants to enter the Dutch market.
Knowledger will be a part of iVenture Company that is specialized in creating new IT and Tech
companies in The Netherlands.
Knowledger is a concept company, which means the company does not exist yet, so iVenture wants
to know how Knowledger can enter the market. IVenture wants a clear view on the market and
branches and wants to know how Knowledger needs to attract and serve itself to potential clients.

Knowledger will be specializing itself in matching big data talents with companies who are willing to
work with big data. The management of iVenture noticed a big gap between the demand and supply
of big data talents. As a result, they came up with the concept of Knowledger, to fulfil the needs of
those companies who are looking for big data talents. However, Knowledger does not know to whom
to reach out to, and how. To answerer that question, the market needs to be defined and potential
branches and competitors need to be investigated.

By looking into the Dutch market, research shows that the interest of integrating big data within
companies is increasing. During this year, 40% of the companies are hoping to integrate a big data
structure. 20% of the companies are in doubt on the subject of integrating big data within the
company. By defining a more specific target area, the branches; energy, financial, insurance, travel
and government do have the best potential for Knowledger. When looking the size of those
companies, SME’s are more interested in the service of Knowledger than large enterprises. Field
research is showing that large enterprises are more often looking for university scaled talent instead
of SME’s who are fine with College (HBO) talents.

Knowledger will not be the only player in the market who tries to full fill needs of other companies
with regard to big data. There are several parties who are already active on the market and which are
helping out their clients to optimize the activities. By integrating software systems and giving advise
by consults, competitors are solving the clients’ big data problems. Competitors are organizing
events to help clients as well, by bringing companies in contact with talented people, competitors try
to fill the gap between the talents and companies.

To reach out to customers, understanding of how they are searching for information, and what they
want to know before they purchase a service, is essential. When companies have noticed that big
data could be interesting, they start looking for information. By using Google and social media, they
hope to find academic whitepapers and information about possibilities. Knowledger needs to be
capable of reaching companies who are looking for information and research in the right way. If that
works out, Knowledger could hire clients and start collaboration. This process could be defined as the
buyer’s journey.
