NEUROPLASTICITY
• The tendency of neural networks in the brain to alter thro
development and reorganisation is known as neuroplasticity,
recognized as neural plasticity or brain plasticity.
• Individual neuron pathways creating new associations to syste
modifications including cortical remapping are examples of these shifts.
• Circuit and network shifts as a consequence of learning a new s
environmental stimuli, practise, and psychological stress are example
neuroplasticity.
, NEUROPLASTICITY
• It was earlier believed that any damage to the central nerv
system (brain and the spinal cord) is permanent or more or
permanent.
• It was also hypothesized that the adult (mature) brain was incapa
of any reorganization.
• But the recent advances in research by neuroscientists (19
onwards) have concluded that the brain has the ability to consta
change the structure and functions of the cells in response to
experience, injury or any trauma. The mature brain is consta
changing and adapting.
• This ability of the brain is known as neuroplasticity.
