, These are important anatomical spaces with landmarks/ boundaries housing important
neurovascular structures running from the head through the neck to the axillae and uppe
limbs.
BROAD DIVISION: 1. Posterior triangle of the neck
2. Anterior triangle of the neck
, POSTERIOR TRIANGLE OF THE NECK
- The major triangle of the neck is the Posterior triangle of the neck.
- This is an important anatomical area of interest to clinicians and surgeons bounded
anteriorly and posteriorly by border.
- It is bounded anteriorly by the posterior border of the sternocleidomastoid and
posteriorly by the anterior border of the trapezius muscle.
- The base is by the middle-third of clavicular bone.
- The apex is formed by the meeting point of the posterior border of the
sternocleidomastoid muscle and anterior border of the trapezius muscle.
