CASE STUDY: Family Member with Alzheimer's disease: Mark and Jacqueline Reflective Questions 1. How do you think this situation reflects Jacqueline's sense of role performance? The ability to execute roles resulting from family, employment, and social engagements influenced by societal expectations is an integral part of the role performances (Object Relations Theory, n.d.). The scenario herein provides the resulting demands of responsibility that are occasioned to Jacqueline and how she responds to them, considering that she is taking care of her mother, who has Alzheimer's Disease. Sickness would be the consequence of performing a person's tasks in society at the level of others (Object Relations Theory, n.d.). Taking care of the family member with the illness is adversely affecting how Jacqueline is responding to other social expectations that point to her role performance. 2. How do you think that Jacqueline may be contributing to her own health? The responsibility of caring for her mother makes Jacqueline unable to attend to other aspects of life, indicating harm to her health. Conversely, performing social tasks is a sign of good health (Object Relations Theory, n.d.). Thus, the continued confine of attending to her mother without a chance to have a holiday with the husband, visit friends or friends to visit her at home, or even see their children in other states leads to poor health outcomes. There is a need for her to seek aid in caring for the mother before she is overwhelmed and develops adverse health conditions like stress and depression.
