Tables
A convenient way to present data clearly. The data is presented in two columns, with the item being
measured in one column and the number (or percentage) of data points for that item in another column.
Quantitative Data
Data having to do with quantities as the items being measured.
Categorical Data
Data having to do with the categories as the items being measured.
Bar Graphs
Convey information using rectangular bars that do not touch each other.
Histograms
Convey information using rectangular bars that do touch each other.
Double Bar Graphs
Show the same type of data for two groups on the same graph.
Stem-and-Leaf Plots
A better visual representation of data. The original data points aren't lost. It is presented in two columns
where the stem is the left column and the leaves is the right column.
Pie Chart
Displays data as wedges in a circular shape. Also called circle graphs.
Line Graphs
Plot one variable against another. Similar to linear equations graphed in a coordinate plane.
Interpolation
Reading a value on the graph between the given points.
Extrapolation
Extending the graph beyond what is plotted.
