If prescriber ceases to practice for any reason, what do you do with remaining refills?
You can dispense all remaining refills up to a 90-day supply until patient seeks other care
Can Schedule II drugs be faxed over?
Yes, provided the original written rx is presented to the pharmacist prior to the actual dispensing
- LTC and home infusion pharmacies are exempt - you can dispense based of faxes in these settings
- Hospice patients are too (need to specify on Rx that they are hospice)

- Enough to cover emergency period (unless written prescription is presented for longer)
What does prescriber need to do after emergency CII is dispensed?
- Send over written prescription for amount dispensed within 7 days
- Write "authorized for emergency dispensing"

- Prescriber can write multiple prescriptions for up to 90-day supply (if post-dating)
- Must contain original date of issue and future fill dates
