Western Governor’s University The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is an agency within the Texas Health and Human Services System. HHSC includes two agencies: the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). HHSC is headquartered in Austin, TX. with Dr. Courtney Phillips currently serving as the system’s Executive Commissioner (Wikipedia, 2019). HHSC’s main purpose is to help Texans connect with services they need.

The mission statement for HHSC is to improve the health, safety and well-being of Texans with good stewardship of public resources (Texas Health and Human Services, 2019). A1A: VISION
The vision statement for HHSC is to make a difference in the lives of the people served. Texas began transforming how it delivers health and human services to qualified Texans. The goal for the agency for at least the next three years include making HHSC Systems more efficient and effective (Texas Health and Human Services, 2019). HHSC strives for the following goals:
•Make it easier for people to find out about the services or benefits for which they may
qualify.
•Better integrates programs by removing bureaucratic silos and grouping similar programs and services together.
•Creates clear lines of accountability within the organization.
•Includes well-defined and objective performance metrics for all organizational areas.
