Early Romantic Era
Music History II Unit 2 lecture notes begin with a brief summary of the French Revolution. There is an entire page dedicated to explaining the Romantic era, events happening such as industrialization, and what romanticism is. Throughout the notes, major key terms are explained. Some genres discussed are symphonies, song cycles, lieder, the popularization of duets, types of piano works (nocturnes, preludes, etc.), and choral music (popularization of choral societies). Composers discussed include Beethoven, Schumann (Robert and Clara), Schubert, Mendelssohn (Felix and Fanny), Liszt, Chopin, Berlioz, and Rossini.
