, INTRODUCTION
Depending on the sport being taught, coaches often use many different techniques within the same sessions,
preventing boredom for the athletes and being able to identify strengths, weaknesses, practicing gameplay,
formations and positioning.
Not all coaching techniques are applicable for every sport. This could be due to cost, time, unavailability,
experience, danger or purely lack of players. Activities which are one on one are easier for a coach to focus on
as they only require to look into one athletes needs. When working with a larger group, it becomes more
difficult.
Within this presentation I will go into depth about what ‘adapting practices to meet individual needs’, ‘fitness
testing’ and ‘simulation’ simply are and as to why they are effective within coaching, or not. Their strengths and
weaknesses will be highlighted along with sports and activities where coaches will predominantly use these
techniques compared to those which cannot be applied.
