How long is Direct Access? When do they need to go back to the referring physician?
-30 days
-After 30 days, if the patient is being treated for something not diagnosed by the physician they must
go back and the POC must get signed
When is Direct Access deadline not applicable?
-When the referring MD is from another state
-The physician diagnosed them with something that requires therapy
-The PT is treating the patient/condition
How many members make up the Board?
-7 members with 4 year terms appointed by the governor
-5 are licensed PT's or the last 4 years
-one can be a full time professor
-two remaining (if professor is not used) can be residents of the state that DO NOT HOLD HEALTH

-They must be under DIRECT SUPERVISION of a licensed PT

-Without examination is basically if they took the American Registry exam prior to 1971 or took a
similar license exam in another country

-Treat 25 patients while being supervised by someone who has been certified for at least 1 year
