William Edwards is a 65-year old patient on a medical unit who recently experienced a cerebral vascular accident (CVA) within the past 90 days and is now showing signs of an acute ischemic stroke. Clinical judgment activity: You are the receiving nurse for Mr. Edwards in the emergency department (ED). You receive handoff report from the paramedic. In the report, the paramedic states Mr. Edwards had a stroke three months ago and that he is now showing signs of an ischemic stroke.
