Inductie: Vanuit lossen waarnemingen en kenmerken leid je iets algemeens af. Ik tel 100
grassprieten en die zijn allemaal groen, dus gras is groen.
Deductie: Vanuit een algemene theorie ga je naar een specifiek geval: Gras is altijd groen, dit is
gras, dus dit is groen.

Empirisch onderzoek is onderzoek op basis van waargenomen verschijnselen. Het kan
kwantitatief zijn (gebasseerd op hoeveelheden) of kwalitatief (diepgaande informatie door in te
gaan op achterliggende motivaties)

Onderzoeksredenen:
Confimeren of verifiëren: bevestigen van eerdere stellingen of resultaten
Falsifiëren: eerdere resultaten weerleggen
Contradictie: tegenspreken van eerdere resultaten
Elaboratie: nader specificeren van eerdere resultaten.

Objectieve kennis: gebaseerd op controleerbare en herhaalbare feiten, betrouwbaar.
Subjectieve kennis: vanuit persoonlijk perspectief, niet betrouwbaar.
