Scenario:
You are responsible for preparing your teaching and assessment sessions,
supporting others in this task to ensure resources are responsive and consistently
meet learner needs.
You will summarise your findings in a portfolio of evidence, to include a
presentation and report.
Task 1 of 2 –Teaching Preparation Presentation (ACs 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3)
Instructions
You are required to create a presentation in which you explain how to prepare for
a teaching session.
You could do this physically in your own setting or select an organisation and
prepare virtual materials and resources which you can then deliver as part of your
presentation. You are advised to check with your tutor that your choice of
organistion is appropriate.
The following points need to be included when preparing the presentation:
• Explain ways to promote equality and value diversity in the learning
environment.
• An evaluation of inclusive teaching and learning approaches to meet the needs
of learners.
• An analysis of how to establish a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• What special needs are.
• Factors impacting on the development of learners and how they learn.
• Strategies to support learners with special needs.
Delivery and Submission
• 1x 10 minute Presentation file (including references)
• 1x Speaker notes (approx. 500 words)

Task 2 of 2 – A review of teaching approaches (ACs 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3)
You will need prepare a report to handout after your presentation, which includes
the following points:
• Explain why it is important to identify and meet the individual needs of learners.
• Analyse the role and use of diagnostic assessment in agreeing individual
learning goals.
• Evaluate methods of assessment to agree individual learning goals with
learners.
• Analyse strategies used to integrate learners with special education needs into
mainstream classes.
• Explain how to create individualised education or learning plans for learners
with special educational needs.
• Describe ways in which teaching and learning plans can be adapted to meet the
individual needs of learners.
Delivery and Submission
• 1x Report – 3500 words excluding TOC, diagrams, references and appendice.
Referencing:
• You should use and cite a range of academic and reliable sources.
• A comprehensive Harvard style reference list must be included at the end of the
work.
