Understanding UPSC Examination: Stages and Important Details (Ethics
Paper Focus)



Essential Age Range for UPSC Examination



 Candidates must be between 21-32 years of age to apply for the UPSC Civil
Services examination.



 Age relaxation is provided for certain categories:



 SC/ST: up to 5 years



 OBC: up to 3 years



 Defence Services personnel: up to 5 years



 Ex-servicemen including Commissioned officers and ECOs/SSCOs: up to 5 years



 Persons with benchmark disabilities: up to 10 years



Importance of Ethics Paper



 The UPSC Civil Services Mains examination includes a compulsory Paper-IV,
"Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude" to evaluate the candidate's ethical competence.



 This paper carries 250 marks out of a total of 1750 marks for the Mains
examination.

, Questions are designed to test the candidate's understanding of ethical concepts,
their ability to apply these concepts in real-life situations, and their judgment and
decision-making skills.



Examination Pattern: Special Importance in GS Paper 1



 General Studies Paper-I in the Preliminary examination includes questions related
to Indian culture, history, and geography.

Civil Services Preliminary Examination: GS Papers and Their

 The Civil Services Preliminary examination consists of two General Studies papers
