Purpose of Regulation
Legislation deems it necessary in the interest of public health, safety, and welfare. Restrictions
imposed only if necessary to protect the public from recognized dangers AND in a manner not
affecting the competitive market
Citation
an instrument which meets requirements set forth, and is served upon a subject for purpose of
assessing a penalty in an amount established by this rule. Department disposes of this citation after 6
months
Biennial Renewal
Each licensed barber who continues to practice/service shall renew license every 2 years
Licensure
The department shall license any applicant who satisfies the requirements of paying license fees and
passing barbering test. One may cut in a licensed barbershop if fail first attempt and scheduled a
second. May not cut if fail the second time
Examination Prerequisites
Must apply to department for licensure
Must be at least 16 years of age
Pays required application fees
Active license in another state
Minimum 1200 clock hours
