Unit 45 independent learning
I am going to write up in an essay format the different styles of writing to show different types of
information. Three styles of writing that I am going to focus in on in my essay are; explanatory,
descriptive and reflective.
Within My Health and Social care course there are a lot of assignments where I am asked to describe
something or someone, describing something can be explained as “painting a picture with words” I
am going to show you a piece of work and describe how it is descriptive writing.
For my first assignment in this unit Independent Learning I was asked to describe the many different
resources that are available to an individual to support them whilst they study Health and Social
Care.
here is a print screen of the piece of work that I produced for this P1 task. Using the Word Processor
Microsoft Word I typed up about many different resources and how an indivudal can make great use
of them. The first resource I decided to describe was the library which I said “ The Library is a
resource that is available for every student studying Health and Social Care ( as well as most other
courses) the South West College has a library on site that students can use to help them with
study. Libraries are a great resource as you have access to a quiet place to study with equiptment
such as computers, books, WIFI and cheap printing which you can use to type up and print off
coursework. Library staff have a lot of knowledge and will be able to guide you on books that
would be suitable for you when obtaining information for health and social care coursework. The
loan system that is in place in libraries allows you to bring books that you want home for a period
of time also.” I followed the same concept for the other resources I described including Health and
Social Care textbooks and tutors for example.
