,ABSTRACT
Sexually transmitted infections are major public health concern affecting mostly the youthful
population across the globe causing considerable morbidity, mortality, and socioeconomic
implications. Pwani university nursing students are among the youthful population affected by
this problem. The aim of this study is to assess the level of students’ knowledge, attitude, and
preventive practice towards sexually transmitted infections and the associated factors. The
research will also explore the relationship between the student’s knowledge and attitude with
their sexual behaviours. This information will inform the development of strategies to enhance
STI-preventive behaviours among nursing students, positioning them as more effective health
promoters. This aligns with the standard development goal number 3 of ensuring healthy lives
and wellbeing for all. A cross-sectional study will be conducted in Pwani University on Nursing
students on session utilising a sample of 183 students. Simple Stratified sampling technique will
be employed to identify the sample among the general population. A self-administered
questionnaire including both open and closed ended questions will be used collect data from the
participants.
