Question 2
Tala invited her brother Roger to house sit for her while she went overseas for a month-long
holiday. Before she left, Tala told her brother not to drive her car. While Tala was away, Roger
made a quick dollar by renting out Tala's car for $100 a night.
Roger was an IT specialist. His business involved buying old laptops, and fixing and then re-
selling them for a profit. Roger racked up a lot of orders in town. Sam, an internet cafe
owner, had ordered four laptops from Roger. Roger was on his way home from the gym when
he stopped to deliver them. Too tired to get out of the car, he popped open the car boot and
told Sam to help himself to the laptops, which were in a large box. He called out, "Your
laptops are in a box in the boot of the car. Just take the box.' Sam carried the box into the
internet cafe, without counting the laptops. He then went back to pay Roger. The total price
for the four laptops was $4,600. Later that night, Roger suddenly realised that there had
been six laptops instead of four in the box. Roger telephoned Sam, but Sam refused to return
the extra two laptops. Sam later sold all the laptops. He refused to give Roger the money that
he made from the sale of the two extra laptops.
