TOPIC: Solution to common sewing problems
1. Skipped Stitches:
What it looks like: Missing stitches in the fabric.
Why it happens: Dull or damaged needle, incorrect threading, wrong needle size
How to fix it: Replace the needle, re-thread the machine, choose the correct size and type of needle
based on your machine
2. Uneven Stitching:
What it looks like: Unequally spaced or unevenly placed stitches.
Why it happens: Incorrect tension settings, improper threading, using the wrong type of thread.
How to fix it:Adjust the tension, re-thread the machine, use a thread suitable for your fabric
3. Thread Breakage:
What it looks like: Thread breaks frequently while sewing
Why it happens: Dull needle, incorrect thread tension, threading issues, low-quality thread.
How to fix it: Replace the needle, adjust tension, use higher-quality thread.
4. Fabric Puckering:
What it looks like: Fabric gathers or puckers at the seams while sewing.
Why it happens: Too tight tension, using a needle that is too small for the fabric.
How to fix it: Loosen the tension, use a larger needle for thicker fabrics.
5. Fabric Jamming:
what it looks like: Fabric gets stuck in the machine or under the needle.
Why it happens: Incorrect threading, lint buildup, wrong needle size.
How to fix it: Re-thread, clean out lint, use appropriate needle.
6. Uneven Feed Dog Movement:
What it looks like: Fabric doesn’t move smoothly.
Why it happens: Dirty or damaged feed dogs, incorrect presser foot pressure.
How to fix it: Clean feed dogs, adjust presser foot pressure.
7. Bobbin Thread Showing on Top:
How it looks like: Bobbin thread appears on the top of the fabric.
Why it happens: Tension issues, poorly wound bobbin, threading errors.
How to fix it: Adjust tension, rewind bobbin, re-thread the machine.
8. Breaking Needles:
how it looks like: Needles keep breaking during sewing.
Why it happens: Using the wrong needle for a specific fabric, hitting pins, sewing over thick seams.
How to fix it: Use appropriate needle size and type, remove pins before sewing, sew slowly over
