Signal Transduction Pathway
,The general flow of information
during cell signalling
, • Cells communicate to each other by sending and receiving the signalling
molecules.
• The signalling molecules can come form the environment (heat, cold, touch,
sound, smell, test) or it may come from the another cell.
• If it is coning from another cell then it is necessary for target cell function and survival
• 3 steps in signal transduction:
• 1. Reception: Attachment of the signalling molecule to the cell surface receptors
• 2. Transduction: Transmission of signal from outside of the cell to inside of the cell
• 3. Response: Response of the cell after receiving of the signal
This process of converting extracellular signals into cellular response is the STP
