Characteristics of niche fashion retailer

Niche fashion retailer is a specialized store targeted at a particular group of people
or specific target market. Niche fashion retailers are usually stores, offering only one
kind of clothes or shoes. Niche fashion retailers very often are selling luxury clothes
and usually they are unique and made by hand, designed from specific designer or
designed especially for person. Niche fashion retailers are more in touch with their
customers, they have specific relationship, because how I said those stores usually
provide unique products, but also those stores can be easily influenced by their
customers, because the product which this retailer offer is not for everybody, in the
fashion industry, the problem is mainly in the price. Not everybody can afford to buy
those products. But that is only in the fashion industry, for example I can say store
for professional skateboards. There are not many people who going to buy
skateboard but professional skateboard even less. But the problem of that there are
not many people who going to buy professional skateboard is not in the price, it is in
that, not everyone can ride a skateboard.

Characteristics of mass fashion retailer

Mass fashion retailer is a store which is not specialized in small group of people or
specific target market. Mass fashion retailers are made for all types of people. Mass
fashion retailers have a target market, but are much larger, than the niche retailer.
They are not influenced by customers much as niche retailers. Mass retailers have
large product range, they do not sell only one type of products, they offer wide range
of product. Mass fashion retailers can sell clothes in their shops but also they can
sell toys, beauty and home stuff.

Differences

The difference between niche and mass fashion retailers is large. Niche fashion
retailers usually set the fashion trend, they sell their product to celebrities and rich
people who wear them, advertise them to people who want to imitate the celebrities.
The mass fashion retailers which are usually targeting people from the low and
middle class of people have to fill their stores with cheaper versions of the products
which niche retailers offer. Another difference is that mass fashion retailers are not
as much influenced by customers as niche fashion retailers, because the target
market of mass retailers are much larger and if group of people decide to not shop in
the mass retailer anymore they have many other groups which going to keep shop in
there. But if niche fashion retailer lost some of its customers is going to affect them
really bad because usually niche retailers are not very busy stores and they do not
have as many customers as mass retailer.

Examples

Philipp Plain is a niche fashion retailer who offers designer clothing. Philipp Plain
