This includes: P4, P5, P6, M3, M4, D2 questions, task criterion: -Task 1 you are expected to plan (so include how you would take samples and test as well as when where and why) and carry out an investigation for 2 systems based on the symptoms presented. You need to present the findings in a structured report with the collection of data and analysis. a) one patient has been presented with tachycardia b) other patient is frequently urinating and feels thirsty c) you will need to explain the results using your biological understanding d) your report must reflect links to your knowledge of the systems (This means you must explain briefly the normal function and then in more detail say how this is disrupted according to the results collected). You must explain the significance of the findings for the systems. e) use the results to show the importance of the tests. Explain how the results help diagnose the condition (there are often other conditions with the same or similar symptoms) and also explain whether (and if not why not) it would be possible to diagnose a patient on the basis of the test alone - Task 2 Comment on the accuracy and reliability of the tests you did and the tests which would be done in the hospital. If you were the clinician, would you diagnose on the basis of those tests, if not what else would you use to make your diagnosis? Now consider specifically the stress test. Consider the application of the electrodes. How accurately do these have to be placed. If they are not placed accurately, what might be the consequences. Consider the ECG trace that would be generated. How easy is this trace to interpret? Are traces ever misinterpreted? What safeguards exist to make sure they are not? P4 plan the implementation of appropriate physiological measurement tests P5 carry out a clinical investigation, indicating the appropriateness of methods chosen P6 report on clinical investigation, evaluating results from planned tests for patient feedback. M3 explain the underlying reasons for contrasting/dissimilar results in at least two different disciplines M4 explain the significance of the findings of the investigation. D2 evaluate the ‘health’ of the individual and the accuracy and reliability of results *harvard referencing included for each section* i have all assignments from level 2, 3, 3,2 available as well as a bundle of all assignments of the levels, if there is any missing dont doubt on sending me a message, share with you're friends and thanks for visiting me!! Assignment 2 unit 29

Task 1 (P4, P5, P6, M3, M4)

Patient A

Symptoms presented:
Tachycardia

Steps to take:
The causes of tachycardia include: Heart-related conditions such as high blood pressure
(hypertension) Poor blood supply to the heart muscle due to coronary artery disease
(atherosclerosis), heart valve disease, heart failure, heart muscle disease (cardiomyopathy),
tumours, or infections.

First check the bpm of the patient, which is the Blood pressure, measured using two
numbers. The first number, called systolic blood pressure, measures the pressure in your
blood vessels when your heart beats. The second number, called diastolic blood pressure,
measures the pressure in your blood vessels when your heart rests between beats with a
blood pressure gauge, this is done in fully rest mode, and in a calm environment.

60 beats per minute is normal and even healthy, so in this patient since he suffered from
tachycardia a resting heart rate over 100 beats per minute is accepted as tachycardia in
adults.

The importance of the test is that if the bpm are not read correctly and it is too low that
seems normal, and after the patient is not medicated it has serious risks.

Than the patient will be medicated straight away with Adenosine successfully stops
paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) of all types in more than 90% of cases.
Other medications: If adenosine is unsuccessful, other medications can be used, such as
calcium channel blockers (diltiazem), digoxin (Lanoxin), or beta-blockers (esmolol).

If the patient is not medicated, the risks are significantly increases the risk of stroke, sudden
cardiac arrest, and death.
