Explore connections in the ways Edward Thomas and Alun Lewis write about the passing of time. (Model 80/80 answer for Unit 2 English Lit WJEC exam)
Full Question: "Time flies over us but leaves its shadow behind". In light of this view, explore connections between the ways Thomas and Lewis write about the passing of time. You must analyse in detail at least two poems from each of your set texts and give careful consideration to relevant contexts. This is a model answer for the Thomas and Lewis comparison question in WJEC AS-level English Lit Unit 2: poetry post-1900. Document includes two practice questions, mark scheme, my plan and full answer and my teacher's comments. This essay earned full marks (80/80) and I went on to achieve full UMS and an A* in my English exams. In this essay I compare Old Man with The Public Gardens and The Path with The Swimmer to discuss how both poets present time.
