Brown sequard syndrome
Brown-Séquard syndrome is a neurological condition resulting from damage to one side of the spinal cord. Typically caused by trauma, such as a stabbing or gunshot wound, it leads to a distinctive pattern of symptoms. On the side of the injury, there's weakness or paralysis and loss of proprioception (awareness of body position), while on the opposite side, there's a loss of pain and temperature sensation. This asymmetrical presentation occurs because sensory and motor pathways cross at different levels in the spinal cord. Treatment involves addressing the underlying cause and managing symptoms to optimize function and quality of life
