Continuous assessment plays an important part in classroom dynamics, in the education field a
continuous assessment is considered a key tool to ensure the quality of learning. All educational
institutions of Ethiopia with their different levels uses continuous assessment as a key factor to
determine students learning achievements, performance, and determine their learning difficulties
by finding the suitable solutions to support them appropriately. MOE enrolled in a new education
and training policy, so that the rule of this country will apply continuous assessment in academic
and practical subjects on the profile of all students at all levels. Teachers are engaged to move
from traditional learning to personalized learning by using assessment for learning (formative
assessment) as well as assessment of learning (summative assessment). Teachers should use
different assessment techniques while teaching their students which suits the learning activities
in order to fulfill the primary goal of assessment, which is to support the learning process.
Continuous assessment is a process that can be done at all times where it is necessary, the teacher
at this situation can gather and interpret information about student learning process that is being
used, so he can make a suitable and direct decision about what to teach and determine if the
student has acquired knowledge in an appropriate and right way. A sample of 72 teachers was
selected from the total population of 191 primary school teachers through simple random
sampling techniques.

- Some other teachers use CA to identify students learning difficulties and interests

- Some participants (teachers) give direct feedback to students regarding their strengths
and weaknesses
- Primary school teachers provide assessment feedback to students only by giving them
marks to identify their learning achievements
- Primary school teachers always share in the objectives and tools of continuous
assessment
- Teachers do not assess students learning outcomes of affective and psychomotor domain
- Primary school teachers use individual and group activities with their students
- Primary school teachers use self and peers’ assessment
