Cubital fossa
The cubital fossa is a triangular depression on the anterior surface of the elbow joint. Also known as the antecubital fossa, it houses important structures such as the brachial artery, median nerve, biceps tendon, and radial nerve. Its boundaries are formed by the pronator teres muscle, brachioradialis muscle, and the imaginary line connecting the medial and lateral epicondyles of the humerus. Clinically, this region is crucial for blood pressure measurements and venipuncture due to the accessibility of the brachial artery and median cubital vein. Its anatomical significance makes it a common site for medical procedures and assessments.
