,555 TIMER
• Highly stable device for generating accurate time delay or oscillation.
• Signetics corporation first introduced as SE555/NE555.
• Two types of Package:
✓ 8 – pin circular style
✓ 8 – pin mini DIP or 14 – pin DIP (556 – two timer)
• Exar’s XR-2240 – Counter timer – contains a 555 timer and programmable
binary counter in 16 – Pin DIP.
• Single 555 timer – Provides time delay ranging from microseconds to hours,
whereas counter timer – Maximum timing range of days.
• Supply Voltage : +5 V to + 18V, and drive output load upto 200mA.
• Because of wide range of supply, 555 timer – Versatile and easy to use in various
applications.
