, Introduction
• Local anaesthetic (LA) agents are widely used by anaesthetists and medical
personnel from almost all specialties.
• Local anaesthetics (LAs) are generally safe and effective agents for tissue
infiltration and nerve/plexus blocks at therapeutic doses.
• There is however a potential of toxicity users of LAs should be aware of and
recognise early.
• LA toxicity can occur at different levels/ in different forms: Allergic reactions, local
toxicity and systemic toxicity.
