Appendix
The appendix is a small, tube-like organ located near the junction of the small and large intestines in the lower right side of the abdomen. While its exact function in humans is not fully understood, it is believed to play a role in the immune system, specifically in maintaining gut health and possibly acting as a reservoir for beneficial bacteria. However, it is not considered vital for survival, and its removal due to inflammation (appendicitis) is a common surgical procedure. Despite its mysterious function, the appendix remains a subject of ongoing research in the field of human anatomy and physiology.
