, In Turkey, consumers of their traditional drink: espresso coffee, and a
priority along with tea, are concerned because in the medium or long
term they may run out of supply due to climate change. The alarm is
spreading worldwide because of the imbalance between production
oriented in countries of southern latitude, and demand from countries
of northern latitude. Climate change affects the ripening, quality, and
flavor of the processed bean. Consequently, a crisis of supply and
quality of the beverage may arise.
To counteract this, they suggest growing hardier species, but this could
affect the quality of the grain. Hence the support of the unions aimed
at facing the future situation that may arise. Support for producers is
essential to avoid production shortages.
The world production of coffee comes from Latin America, in fact Brazil,
Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Peru and Guatemala are the six largest
producers of this grain, followed by Indonesia, Ethiopia, and Vietnam,
countries in Asia and Africa.
