Introduction
In this part of the assignment I will be describing the impact of international factors on
Tesco focusing on each policy. There are a number of major events that have taken
place across the international economy which have affected many businesses such as
Tesco. There have been many economic developments which have occurred alongside
these events which have affected the business in terms of Tesco and its day to day
running. These events that have occurred are outlined below:
Role of European Union (EU)
Performance of EU economies
World trade organisation (WTO)
Trading blocs
Global Warming
Genetically modified products
Globalisation
Role of European Union
The European Union plays important roles in diplomacy, trade, development aid and
work with global organisations. One of the key tasks of the EEAS is to ensure that all the
different activities that the EU performs abroad are consistent and effective. This is
particularly important because many of the EU's foreign programmes are organised by
different divisions of the European Commission.
Impact on Tesco
This will have an impact on Tesco because the number of high demand of products will
increase due to the number of customers regularly every day, therefore more customers
shopping at Tesco’s will also have an increase on sales too which mean that their market
share will increase. This will be good for Tesco because as more customers shop with
Tesco, then Tesco will generate revenue very quickly.
Performance of European Union economies
As the EU has 27 members of state this will increase the advantages of their
performance in their economies. The more people in the European Union, the more
their economic performance will improve. Most of those 27 member states use the
