Deep perineal pouch
The deep perineal pouch is a space in the urogenital triangle of the pelvic floor, situated between the perineal membrane and the pelvic diaphragm. In both males and females, it contains important structures, including the deep transverse perineal muscles, parts of the urethra, and in males, the bulbourethral glands. This pouch plays a key role in supporting pelvic organs and facilitating urinary and reproductive functions. It also houses nerves and blood vessels supplying the perineal region. Injury or infection in the deep perineal pouch can impact pelvic stability and function, making its health essential for overall pelvic integrity.
