BIOS 252 Case Study special senses Chamberlain
Case Study: Special Senses Due to the patient’s accident, one noninvasive test that tested if the cribriform plate is severely damaged is by doing the pledget study. The reason why this study is being done is because if the cribriform plate is damaged it can lead to cerebrospinal fluid to leak and it usually comes out of the nose and ears. This study is done by placing a pledget cotton pad in the nostrils and if there is leaking of cerebrospinal fluid the leakage will be detected by the pledget. The patient notices new vision symptoms after the accident, and it is probably due to the cornea being damaged or slightly too much round. And he is also experiencing astigmatism and that is caused by an irregular shape of the cornea, and it causes the light entering the eye to be refracted
