Compound namely Acetone , Acetoacetate , and B hydroxy butyrate are
known as ketone bodies .
Only first two are true ketones while B hydroxy butyrate does not
posses the keto group .
Ketone bodies are water soluble and energy yielding .
Ketone bodies are metabolic products that are produced in excess
during excessive breakdown of fatty acids.
In a normal man concentration of ketone bodies is usually less than
3mg/100ml
