PROKARYOTIC VS EUKARYOTIC
• Eukaryotic cells: cells which have a nucleus which is enclosed inside of a membrane.
• Prokaryotic cells: cells which DO NOT have a membrane surrounding their nucleus.
• Not the same as unicellular vs multicellular
BACTERIA CELL
MITOSIS
• Unicellular organisms reproduce through MITOSIS (cell division).
• This is when a single cell splits its nucleus and divides into two identical cells.
• Mitosis happens in multicellular organisms too when we need to create more cells.
e.g. cancer is a form of uncontrolled mitosis.
CELL THEORY
• All living things are made up of one or more cells.
• Cells are the basic building blocks of all life.
• New cells are produced from existing cells (Cell division – Mitosis).
