SOCW 6500: Social Work Field Experience I
Supervision Plan A significant aspect of my field education experience at Panola Medical Behavioral
Health Center has been supervision. I will gain meaningful knowledge and insightful mentoring as an
intern to help me become an ethically competent social worker. "Students experience tremendous
professional growth while in practicum, and the use of supervision will facilitate this professional
growth significantly" (Garthwait, 2021). The supervision that I receive will allow me to improve my
skills of being a professional social worker. Develop a supervision plan to guide productive and
positive mentorship with your supervisor during supervision meetings I will establish a weekly
supervisory meeting with my supervisor regularly to provide constant communication and support. I
will establish a welcoming environment for discussion at these sessions so that I may bring up any
issues, questions, or difficulties I run across while doing my practicum. Additionally, I will talk about
my strengths and faults while asking my supervisor for advice and helpful criticism. I want to learn
important insights and broaden my professional knowledge by actively participating in these
debates. My patient's needs will be better served and my interventions will be improved thanks to
the information I obtain from my supervisor during supervision. To learn about best practices or
things to avoid, I will ask my supervisor to talk about her prior experiences. Explain how supervision
adds to your professional growth and development. Our field education experience should provide
us with the chance to grow and develop our current talents while also creating new social work
practices. Supervision is a valuable resource that interns should utilize to further their professional
growth as a whole and to establish a sense of identity and competence in their field. We may reflect
and evaluate our
3 strengths and areas for progress thanks to our supervisors' strict supervision, make goals, and
share knowledge that will be useful in real life. I will periodically reflect on my experiences and
interventions to include reflective practice in my supervision strategy. I will employ self- reflection to
evaluate my work critically, pinpoint areas for development, and consider alternate strategies. I will
discuss my thoughts with my supervisor at our meetings to get their advice on further developing my
abilities and knowledge. We will jointly establish clear objectives that fit my demands for
professional growth and my practicum's criteria. Explain how you used this week's readings and
resources to inform your plan. According to Garthwait (2021), you need to learn how to proactively
utilize supervision both for consultation on interventions and for professional growth while you are a
student." My field instructor's supervision is exactly how it is described in the readings for this week's
assignment. By making sure to go by the policies and procedures of the business as well, this is
assisting me in boosting my confidence in my ability to assist people. This will also assist me in
developing a better perspective, understanding, and willingness to accept mistakes as I learn more
about the social work profession and the clients I will be assisting. Three Particular Elements of My
Plan Presenting Case Studies I will bring case studies or difficult client situations to discuss with my
supervisor during supervision sessions. I may get input on my evaluation, intervention tactics, and
