Summary Bioenergetics – minor PT
Book Chapter 3

Metabolism
Bioenergetics > Energy Flow = coming from ATP
 Catabolic: Release of energy
 Anabolic: Energy used to build up, All energy used in anabolic processes
is derived from ATP

ATP – body fuel
ATP = Adenosine TriPhosphate
Cross bridges are the binders of myosin and actin. The Cross Bridges
detachment release, when there is ATP. During the Power Stroke there comes
ATP and the myosin head release from the actin head.

So, ATP released myosin from actin after binding. There is for 3 – 4 seconds
ATP in the sarcoplasm.
Release Cross Bridge > when ATP binds on the myosin head and the myosin
and actin release = ATP Resynthesis by energy (E).

Force get to high > there comes a ruptures.

EIMD > Exercise Induced Muscle Damage

, ->ATP = ADP + P ->>> During voorspanning

When there is Ca2+ in the cell there comes a binding by myosin and actin.

ADP + ADP = ATP + AMP (growth factor)

AMP = IMP + NH3 (ammonia = BIG inhibiter)

Plummet > drop 25% of ATP
ATP do NOT plummet when performing a TABATA workout.
Tabata (maximal output) > high interval training (ex. 20 sec jumping jacks and
10 sec rest, 20 sec next exercise and 10 sec rest, go on for 8 minutes with
other exercises)

ATP Resynthesis > ENERGY SYSTEMS
Three energy systems exist in the human body to replenish ATP:
1. Phosphagen system (ATP system) (an anaerobic process, i.e., on that
occurs in the absence of oxygen).
2. Glycolysis system (anaerobic)
a. Fast glycolysis
b. Slow glycolysis
3. Oxidative system (an aerobic process i.e., on that requires oxygen)

Your body use the right system by duration and intensity of the exercise. In this
way you could also find out with one it is.
