How has the Seattle University mission influenced your nursing practice as a student? (be sure
to cite the mission per APA)
What does it mean to care for the "whole person"? - ANSSeattle University is dedicated to
educating the whole person, to professional formation, and to empowering leaders for a just and
humane world (Seattle University).
There is a lot of talk within the nursing community and education about caring for the 'whole
person'. SU has taught me not to view a patient as their diagnosis, but as a complex being in
need of care. Care plans strive to address overlapping affected areas, such as physiological,
psychological, social, and emotional needs. Similarly, education at SU is well-rounded, and
prepares students to enter the work force well prepared in their area of study, while also having
been delicately educated about religion, philosophy, arts, and more.

Discuss the impact of your UCOR classes. What UCOR topics will have the most influence on
your nursing practice? - ANSUCORs have been intentionally sprinkled throughout our
schooling, providing us with the sweet taste of versatile education and knowledge. UCOR
courses produce competitive applicants and powerful team members, adding to our mission
statement and yielding individuals who can lead convincing conversations about justice. My
UCORs included global and focused religion, language, creative writing, philosophy, ethical
reasoning, literature and activism, and psychology. When caring for the 'whole person' in
nursing, you accept your patients' wishes, beliefs, and cultures. To understand others and
respect their identity or how they view the world, it is vital to listen and learn about religion and
culture (even if they don't identify with a particular group). UCORSs prepare us to become
respectful, therapeutic, active listeners who will continue to learn from those around us.
What nursing figure has most influenced your nursing education? Why? - ANSI believe that the
nurses at my senior practicum placement influenced my education in the most noticeable way.
Their kindness, understanding, patience, forgiveness, and - most of all - their receptiveness to
teach, made such an impact on me. By continuing to nurture young nurses and students, they
create a safe and meaningful entrance into the workforce. It's so important to care for those
starting the job, just as they were brought up and taught by wise and experienced nurses
themselves many years ago. I couldn't have asked for a better group of nurses to learn from, as
they provided me with knowledge and excitement about nursing that had been hindered by
COVID.
What are the two most useful leadership styles for nursing leaders? - ANSI think the two most
useful leadership styles for nursing leaders are the democratic leadership style and the servant
leadership style. Democratic leadership thrives when communication and encouragement meet
and all care members have opportunities to express what they need in order to be successful
