, Introduction
The American Red Cross, a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers and
dedicated to reducing and preventing instances of human suffering, is to save lives and provide
comfort to those afflicted. The American Red Cross is a charitable organization that has been
around since 1881 and operates without making a profit. In the United States, the leading
provider of blood is the American Red Cross, a member of the organization known as the
International Red Cross. Helping people through natural or artificial catastrophes, offering aid in
delivering relief to victims of natural and unnatural disasters, and preparing for and responding
to crises have allowed the American Red Cross to build a brand name that is recognized all over
the globe. This company has achieved great success, but as a direct result of those triumphs, it
has also experienced many challenges (Aoser Jones, Marian 2013).
It is the official United States affiliate of the International Federation of Red Cross and
Red Crescent Societies and the United States movement's representative of the International Red
Cross and Red Crescent Movement. As part of this assignment, we will analyze the American
National Red Cross's purpose and discuss the organization's overall strategy (Singletary, 2015).
During the 2012 hurricane season, the Red Cross was on the front lines of aiding victims of
Sandy. Response to the storm tragedy was swift, with the Red Cross announcing the deployment
of 4,000 aid personnel. They assembled tens of thousands of aid workers to assist in disaster-
stricken regions. After Hurricane Sandy, (The New York Times 2012) cited the Red Cross as the
most active non-governmental group working on recovery and rebuilding in the affected areas.
The Red Cross not only sent disaster management personnel but raised over $23 million in
response to this cyclone.
