Assessment in Counseling
Psychological test - ANS-Defined as an objective and standardized measure of a
sample of behavior.
Assessment/appraisal - ANS-a broader term, commonly referring to a process that
integrates test information with information fro other sources.
Test - ANS-individual instrument in which the focus is on evaluation, such as a test that
is graded in a class.
Instruments - ANS-scales, checklists, and inventories are designed to provide
information and are not evaluative (Test might be an instrument).

assess a client to ensure that they maintain an adequate understanding of the client's
needs and problems.
