Indepth anatomy
The larynx, or voice box, is a vital organ located in the neck, responsible for producing sound and speech. It contains two vocal cords that vibrate to create sound waves. The larynx also serves as a passageway for air between the trachea and the mouth, allowing us to breathe and speak simultaneously. Additionally, it houses the epiglottis, a flap that separates the trachea from the esophagus, preventing food and liquids from entering the lungs. The larynx is a complex and essential structure, enabling us to communicate and express ourselves through speech and song. Its proper functioning is crucial for our daily lives.
