years old
What is abuse? - ANS-willful infliction of injury, unreasonable confinement, intimidation,
or punishment with resulting physical harm or mental anguish
What are the types of elder abuse? - ANS-1. Mental/Psychological/Emotional
2. Verbal
3. Physical
4., Sexual
5. Neglect
6. Involuntary Seclusion or isolation
7. Financial or Misappropriation of property

(Mental/Emotional or Psychological) - ANS-infliction of anguish, pain or distress through
verbaL or nonverbal acts, including intimidation, humiliation, harassment and threats of
punishment or deprivation.
(verbal) - ANS-oral or written or gestured language that willfully includes disparaging
and derogatory terms to the residents
(Physical) - ANS-physical force that has potential to result in bodily injury or physical
pain/impairment
(Sexual) - ANS-non-consensual sexual contact of any kind with an older adult, including
those persons unable to give consent
(Neglect) - ANS-refusal or failure to fulfill any part of a person's previously agreed
obligation or duties to an older adult dependent on the person for care or assistance
